::: What is Aquasension Alaska? ::::
Aquasension Alaska is an immersive co-created event bringing us to the untouched wilderness of Alaska alongside the local first nations people, visiting indigenous elders form around the world, and flourishing wildlife that call this breathtaking landscape home. We are gathering in the Valley of the Eagles to learn from the waters, to honor our Source, and to raise awareness for the protection of this land from industrial threats.
We are collectively calling attention to the sacred waters of the Chilkat River, and the land of the local first nation people, the Tlingit (tuh·ling·uht) Tribe. Also called the Valley of the Eagles, this pure expression of our natural world is on the verge of mining operations that will poison the waters, in turn poisoning the salmon runs and putting the mass bald eagle migrations that come to feed here at risk. These operations are moving forward without Tlingit approval or consent, and so we gather in prayerful protection and celebration to stop another forceful breach of native land and some of the last untouched wilderness in the world. Let's protect this before it is lost. In turn, we gather to learn, sing and envision PURE waters all over the world. This campout offers us the opportunity to touch in with the elements and honor water as medicine in the most spectacular setting of southeast Alaska’s coastal temperate rainforest. Through our shared passion for the waters, we celebrate the life of our beloved angel and Alaskan local, Mario Julian Benassi, who transitioned in the Yuba River in the Summer of 2018. 🌎🕊🎶 🌿💧🌳 |

Why come to
Aquasension Alaska? |
::: Prayerful Protection :::Aquasension aims to make a strong and loving battle cry of support for Mother Nature/Gaia/Pacha Mama and Her gifts of pure flowing waters, clean air and healthy lands. We stand side-by-side with our native indigenous brothers and sisters to celebrate these gifts and prevent the industrialization of the Alaskan wilderness!
Today the land of the Chilkat Tlingit people is at risk of high sulfide ore mining. The mining industry aims to dig a mile long tunnel for underground exploration of sulfide ore without Tlingit approval or consent. They intend to mine just six miles up stream of the ancient village of Klukwan. This sulfide ore mining would pollute the surrounding waters and threaten the fragile food chain of the area. First the salmon runs are disturbed, threatening the migrating bald eagle population and in-turn negatively impacting the entire food chain all the way up to the local clans that are SALMON PEOPLE. The local indigenous people, the Tlingit, have been salmon people for thousands of years. They depend on clean waters in their homeland not only for their food supply but for the continuation of their entire way of life in tune with the natural world around them. The tribes as well as environmentally-minded locals have been defending this land for nearly ten years.... now it’s our turn to join in the cause! |
::: Celebration :::While we are calling forth awareness to an incredibly important environmental issue for our planet and waters, we gather not out of fear or blame but out of celebration of LIFE, community, and togetherness.
We pave the way and then get out of the way so that indigenous voices rise and spark a rembernace within us that we then carry outwards and ripple into the world. The ceremonies and presentations at Aquasension are to inform, breed love and ignite inspiration. There is so much wisdom resurfacing, we just need to take some time and listen. And then share. And then dance it out! |
